TURKEY. ORDER OF THE MEDJIDIÉ. Set of three silver, vermeil and enamel officer's crosses, in the form of a seven-pointed star, angled with a crescent and a star; the centre, in gold on two, is decorated with the tughra of its founder surrounded by four red enamelled cartouches bearing the legend of the order in Turkish: "Patriotism - Zeal - Loyalty - 1268 (1852)". The clasp is formed by a red enamelled crescent and star. One signed on the back by the Imperial Ottoman Mint, with its original clasp and case. WEIGHT (GROSS) 65 G. NOTE The Order of the Medjidie is an honorary order of the Ottoman Empire founded in 18521 by Sultan Abdülmecit I (1839-1861). It is awarded for civil and military services.
