The bird is painted predominantly in red, standing still with its head held up and supported by bronze legs. Further details can be seen on the face, with dark paint highlighting the eyes and beak. The goose is standing still with its head held high and is supported by bronze legs. Further carved details can be seen on the face, with paint highlighting the beak. Size: 150-235mm x 140-250mm; Weight: 1.59kg. Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK /European art markets. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
