TWO CHINESE TERRACOTTA BIRDS - TL TESTED. Han Dynasty, Ca. 202 BC - AD 220 A group of two figures consisting a bird and a rooster. The bird is painted with red, green, and black pigments, and modeled with great details on the face and feathers. The bird is leaning foward and its wings folded to the side, supported by bronze legs. The rooster is standing upright with an extended neck and is supported by two bronze legs. Detailed with red and black pigments and carved details on the folded feathers. Size: 160-180mm x 95-160mm; Weight: 790g. Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
