TWO CHINESE TERRACOTTA BIRDS - TL TESTED.
Han Dynasty, Ca. 202 BC - AD 220.
A pair of terracotta birds, including, from left to right: a rooster in upright stance with a well-defined comb and red pigment on the head and wings; and a bird with a rounded body and lowered head, the plumage marked in mottled red and brown. Both are supported on bronze legs.
Size: 100-160mm x 165-175mm; Weight: 810g
Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
