TWO MATCHED PAIRS OF ROMAN GOLD EARRINGS.

A collection of four gold earrings, including, from left to right: a matching pair, each with a circular domed frontal plaque with a central boss within a ropework border, suspended from a twisted wire ring and terminating in a drop of stacked granules; an earring formed as a rounded hoop thickened at the lower end and bound on one side with several turns of fine wire, with a cluster of granules at the lower edge; and an earring with a rounded hoop and a vertical drop of stacked granules at the base.

Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Munich, Germany in the 1990s.
