Also in London, he studied at the Yellow Door Fine Arts School, with the artist Frank Spenlove-Spenlove. Banyan's work in the West was critically important to the development of Burmese art in the 20th century, as he brought back western techniques and traditions to the art schools in Myanmar where he taught.
