Lot no. 1940
Udo Lindenberg. (Born 1946 Gronau/Westphalia)
"Others think after (-) We think ahead". Original title
A profile portrait of Lindenberg, humorously caricaturing himself in a typical outfit - suit, wide-brimmed hat and dark sunglasses, holding a cigar in one hand and a raised champagne glass in the other, with a small, busty woman looking up at him. Expressive, stylistically typical, capturing the figures with strong black contours and intensifying the expression of joie de vivre through strong, contrasting colours. The figure of Lindenberg himself is a recurring motif in his painterly and graphic oeuvre, which he uses in various contexts with accompanying sayings, usually with a woman as a counterpoint. The important rock musician, who is still active today, discovered painting in the 1990s, in which he combines cartoons and caricatures. A first exhibition in 1996 was followed by numerous others, including one in 2005 entitled "Keine Panik. Udo Lindenberg's Colourful Republic" at the Haus der Geschichte in Bonn. His pictures can be found in the Federal Chancellery, among other places, and in 2010 two special stamps designed by him were even issued. Acrylic on canvas; signed; 60 cm x 80 cm. Frame.
