UNIFORMS. Tunic, model 1893, of a battalion commander of the 111th line (Antibes) in black cloth fastened by 1 row of 7 brass buttons with the weapon's imprint, straight collar and garance facing tabs, collar tabs with embroidered numerals in gilded canetille, full dress epaulettes in gilded trimmings, lining in black china sateen, label of the tailor Berthelon-Saunier in Lyon, breeches, model 1888, in thick garance cloth with black side stripes. BE The 111th Antibes Infantry Regiment was the only active regiment to be disbanded during the Great War, in 1916. It was wiped out on 20 March 1916 at Malancourt Wood (2,600 dead and missing) in a matter of moments by a lightning German attack towards hill 304 at Verdun.
