URARTIAN BRONZE BULL HEAD APPLIQUÉ.
Ca. 2nd Millennium BC
A hollow bronze appliqué in the form of a bovine head modelled with long upstanding horns, pointed ears and prominent brows above circular eyes. The elongated muzzle has flaring nostrils and a small mouth, the neck tapering below into a narrow dewlap.
Size: 150mm x 130mm; Weight: 950g.
Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Switzerland; formerly with W.R. , late 1980s to early 1990s.
