In-12, bradel green and orange two-tone half-chagrin with corners, two-tone smooth spine, gilt head, cover and spine (Flammarion - Vaillant). First edition, preceded by an introduction by André Breton and decorated with a full-page drawing by the author and a facsimile of an autograph. It was printed in an edition of 1000 copies. These fifteen Letters from the War, sent from the front to his friend André Breton, as well as to Théodore Fraenkel and Louis Aragon, were enough for Jacques Vaché to become "the secret weapon of several generations" (Gallimard). They were published by Breton a few months after Vaché's death from an opium overdose at the age of 23. One of 30 numbered copies on hollande, the second paper after only 10 japons. Very attractive two-tone binding, produced by Jean Vaillant in the bookbinding workshop he ran for Flammarion. First and last pages yellowed and slight discharge on the first double page.
