Small folio of [12]-28-[10]-29 to 59-[19]- 60 to 70-[9]- 72 to 77-[2]-78 to 82-[6]-83 to 97-[8]- 98 to 106-[7] leaves, (sign.*6-6 A-D6-E4-F6-2F4-G-M6-2M-63-M8-N6-O4-P6-2P4-Q-V6-X4 Y8-a-b6-c4), marbled basane, smooth spine decorated (antique binding). FIRST EDITION of the History of Human Anatomy, one of the rarest medical works in Spanish. It is illustrated with a fine engraved title and 42 VERY BEAUTIFUL out-of-text FIGURES deliberately inspired by Vesalius, but executed on copper rather than wood, by Caspar Becerra or Pedro de Rubiales, both Spanish artists in Italy working for Giorgio Vasari. The work was translated into several languages and published in numerous editions. One page restored with no missing text, some foxing. (USTC 340662) (Palau 349366).
