Lot no. 83
[VANOR (Georges)]
Manuscript for Symbolist Art.
In-12 (16.1 × 11.4 cm), bradel moss green cloth (E. Carayon).
40 small-square paper pages mounted on tabs. On the first three pages the printed and cut-out text has been laminated, and then the text continues in handwriting. The printed part does not correspond to the text published by Vanier, but the rest, from the quotation from Gustave Kahn to the end, is in accordance with the edition.
The manuscript is signed "Jacques Plowert", the pseudonym of a group of 14 decadent writers and pranksters: Paul Adam, Maurice Barrès, Félix Fénéon, René Ghil, Gustave Khan, Jules Laforgue, Stéphane Mallarmé, Jean Moréas, Francis Poictevin, Henri de Régnier, Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, Francis Vielé-Griffin and Charles Vignier. The writing is not that of Georges Vanor, Paul Adam or Gustave Kahn.
