Lot no. 297
Ceremonial cocoa vase
The polychrome decoration, depicting a ritual, is arranged in a frieze of leaning figures harvesting and preparing cocoa.
The figures, painted in black and enhanced with white lines and red ochre, stand out magnificently against the orange background and are characteristic of the Dedalos style, also known as the "Mayoid style" in the 1930s and 1940s.
