Satsuma earthenware vase, JAPAN, Meiji era (1868-1912) The neck and foot round but the shoulder square, decorated with four large scenes, two figurative (women in the garden among wisteria or bamboo), one landscape with a waterfall and a pavilion, and one of birds on a prunus in bloom, all surrounded by gold motifs (Greek, flowers including irises on the shoulder) on a midnight blue background, mounted lamp. Pierced base. H. 34 cm (with frame)
