Ferdinand August Hans Friedrich von Voß-Buch (1788 - 1871) ended his military career in March 1854. He was still working for the Prussian state two years after receiving this vase on occasion of the 50th anniversary of his service in 1852, at which point he was awarded with the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class with the oak leaves. His numerous battles, successes, and awards throughout the German Campaign, as well as his consistent promotion from “Gefreitenkorporal” to Lieutenant, Captain, Colonel, General Major, and finally General Lieutenant are all recorded in the leaves of the laurel wreath. At the age of 76, King Wilhelm I raised him to the rank of Prussian Count.
