Lot no. 595
Vassilakis TAKIS (1925-2019) "Bijou Signal", unique piece in .900 (22 ct) gold on movable steel rod. Signed and dated 82 on the base. Numbered "TF402082" on the base. HT. 70 cm Gold weight 123.53 g Provenance: Mihalarias Art Gallery, Greece Mihalarias Art Gallery, Greece Reference: Unique piece, created by Takis in 1982 in 22-carat gold and presented for the first time as a Signal in 2005 at the Mihalarias Art Gallery, Greece. Reference no. 16 in the original exhibition brochure. Note: This Bijou Signal (1982) condenses Takis's visionary quest: to capture the invisible forces that run through our world. Originally a jewel-mask turned into a kinetic sculpture, the work combines ancient Greek heritage with contemporary technology. This piece crystallises his theory of Signals: sculptures that don't just represent, but emit, capture and dialogue with the invisible. The work literally breathes, evoking the 'Fourth Dimension' so dear to Takis. This Bijou Signal becomes a modern fetish, both poetic and vibratory, illustrating the artist's credo: "Gold thinks, steel listens". --
