Venetian sculptor after Tiziano Aspetti (c. 1559 Padua - 1606 Pisa) Active at the end of the 16th century; Venus with dolphin (Venus Marina) Bronze with nuanced dark brown patina. Turned wooden base. Fully sculpted statuette of a Venus, resting her right foot on the dolphin, whose tail reaches up to her belly. While she clutches her left breast with her left hand, she holds a long cloth with her right hand, which falls to the ground behind her and is moved to the right by the wind. A comparable piece to the present example can be found in the Szépmuvészeti Múzeum (Museum of Fine Arts) in Budapest (inv. no. 5318). Bronze h. approx. 19.8 cm; total h. 22.8 cm. Venetian sculptor active late 16th century, after Tiziano Aspetti (circa 1559 - 1606). Bronze with dark patina. Wooden base.
