The work has been endowed with 2 engraved pages of coins of the third race. Bound (restored) in marbled brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated. Sought-after first edition of these six dissertations by Abbé Venuti composed for the assemblies of the Académie de Bordeaux. They were considered for printing by Messieurs de Garat and de Secondat, the latter being the Académie's permanent secretary and Montesquieu's son. Authorisation was granted on 12 March 1752. The binding was so worn that it has been restored, the remaining parts of the spine have been inlaid in a new spine, missing leather on cuts and corners which have been filled with tinted paper. The flyleaves are missing.
