ANNUNCIATION OF MARY
Limoges, around 1600.
Polychrome enamel and gold drawing. Mary kneeling at the lectern under a canopy, the angel of the Annunciation appears on the left. Inscription AVE GRACIA PLENA. In a gilded bronze frame from the same period, in architectural portal form with applied angel's head. Surmounted by God the Father blessing. Verso with old collection labels and inscriptions: C.H.Z. 1082 and 234 A.R.N.C. respectively.
Plaque 7.5 × 6 cm, with frame 15.5 × 11 cm.
The frame and the enamelled plaque varnished, enamel probably with restorations. Repair to the hanging knob.
Probably a later ensemble, the frame probably from a former pax.
