INDIAN PEDESTAL COFFEE POT in silver, profusely decorated in repoussé with leafy stems on a matt background, interspersed with various animals, lion, greyhound, hare and a cartouche in the form of a coat of arms, the neck and body joined by a snake-shaped handle. Swan" hallmark on the lip. North-west India, probably Cutch, Bhuj, circa 1880-1890. A SILVER REPOUSSÉ JUG, PROBABLY CUTCH, NORTH WESTERN INDIA, CA. 1880-1890. WEIGHT (GROSS) 485 G. - HEIGHT 17.7 CM (7 IN.) NOTE This fine milk jug is the work of Oomersi Mawji, who practised in the Kutch region of Bhuj, circa 1880-90 (Wynyard R.T. Wilkinson, Indian Silver 1858-1947, London, 1999, pp.82-84). Provenance - Former Hippolyte and Gabriel Jouveau-Dubreuil collection.
