In-folio, limp vellum, modern slipcase (contemporary binding). 6 ff. n.c. (title and dedication), 510 pp. 23 ff. n.c. (index) - Woodcuts in-text, 19 full-page, numerous vignettes and initials. Fourth posthumous edition, the first Italian edition. It is in a reduced format with superb woodcut illustrations specially engraved for this new format by Joannes Criegher. This unauthorised edition was quickly sold out, and Francesco Senense's sons produced a new edition in the same format in order to re-use Criegher's woodcuts in 1604. See Cushing on this subject. Eighteenth-century manuscript bookplate on the flyleaf of Captain Pascal Leblanc, commander of the Vaisseau le Cardinal S. Raymond. Old bookplates crossed out on either side of the vignette on the title page. Some scattered freckling and pale wetness in the pages, worm gallery in the margin of one quire without affecting the text, a few interchanged leaves on pp. 124-129.
