A BINDALI THREAD RED VELVET JACKET, PROBABLY OTTOMAN TURKEY FOR EUROPE, CIRCA 1900.
LONG. 69 CM (27 3/16 IN.) - WIDTH (MAX) 120,5 CM (47 7/16 IN.)
NOTE
This very fine red velvet jacket is richly decorated with numerous floral scrolls embroidered in the "bindali" technique found mainly in the Ottoman Empire. However, the cut of the jacket does not seem to be oriental, but rather reminiscent of a European ceremonial jacket.
