Small in-4, stiff vellum, smooth spine, green morocco title-piece, smooth edges (19th century binding). First edition of this treatise on olive cultivation and the production of olive oil by the Florentine humanist Piero Vettori (1499-1585). It is dedicated to Cosimo de' Medici.
This first edition is more rare than the second and third editions, published by the Giunti family in 1574 and 1621.
A pleasant copy, complete with the last blank page. Handwritten bookplate to title: D. Alexandri Belli abbatis Capinensis.
