Very rare first edition, illustrated with 9 large off-text photographs and one off-text plate (longitudinal profile and general plan). Illustrated album of the construction of the Fréjus railway tunnel; the views show the site installations in the Modane and Bardonnèche valleys, the two entrances to the tunnel, the equipment and the drilling machine in action with the workers.
Alberto Luigi Vialardi (Turin 1833-1912), a member of the Italian Alpine Club, was one of the pioneers of photography in Turin.
