First edition of the only published volume of Vicq d'Azyr's anatomy. This first volume is devoted to the brain. Spectacular hand-coloured aquatint frontispiece. The anatomical plates drawn and engraved by Briceau are numbered I to XXXV, each plate in 2 states, in black line and in coloured stippled aquatint, with the exception of plate XVIII borrowed from Soemmerring's work, which is in black only. The illustrations are by Alexandre Briceau, with the exception of 3 plates which are signed Mlle Briceau (pl. 14, 29 and 35). "One of the most outstanding anatomical folios of the brain...
