First edition, with autograph dispatch. On the 1st leaf, a little larger than the others (it had been folded to avoid trimming the mailing), mailing: "To Monsieur Jh. Pinaud, un de ses confrères, bien fier et bien indigne de l'être". Joseph PINAUD (1773-1843) was perpetual secretary of the Académie des Jeux Floraux, which crowned Victor Hugo in 1819 for his Ode pour le rétablissement de la statue d'Henri IV.
