In-fol, brown calf, spine decorated (Binding of the period). Portrait, 1 pl. coat of arms, 8 ff, 252 pp, 1 f. errata. Second edition of the most important work by Raymond Vieussens (Le Vigan 1641 - Montpellier 1715). After graduating in Montpellier in 1670, he went to Paris where he was appointed physician to the Grande Mademoiselle and physician to Louis XIV. He returned to Montpellier permanently as physician to the Hôpital Saint-Éloi. His work mainly concerned the brain and nervous system. The first edition of Neurographia appeared in 1684 with the same publisher. This edition, dated 1685, is in fact a second printing of the first. Superb portrait of the author by Mathieu Boulanger, a plate with the coat of arms of Cardinal Pierre de Bonsy, Archbishop of Narbonne, to whom the book is dedicated, and 30 engraved plates, 23 of which are fold-outs and 7 in the text. Volume IV is titled Nevrographia universalis. It contains 28 plates (out of 30), plates 23 and 27 are missing. Bindings very damaged.
