The group of trees is almost identical to the trees to the right in "View from Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli" from 1832 (The National Gallery of Denmark, KMS233). Provenance: Fritz Petzholdt's oldest sister Angelique Jacobine Petzholdt married to surgeon Louis Levi Jacobsson. Descendants after Petzholdt untill today. Fritz Petzholdt was a student of Eckersberg and he was the only one who chose landscape painting as his main subject. He was inspired by foreign landscape painters.
