VIGNY (Alfred de). Éloa, ou la Sœur des Anges. Paris, Auguste Boulland & Cie, 1824. In-8, olive morocco, richly framed with gilt fillets and gilt corner fleurons around a cold frieze, gilt numeral at the bottom of the first plate, smooth ornate spine, inner lace, gilt head, untrimmed (Durvand). Rare first edition of "the most beautiful poem in the French language" according to Théophile Gautier. A wide-margined copy, elegantly bound with the cipher of Jules Marsan (1976, II, n°543). It is enhanced by an engraved portrait of Vigny in the frontispiece.
