VIKING SILVER BRACELET WITH STAMPED HAMMERS AND LIGHTNING BOLTS
Ca. AD 900 - 1100. A silver bracelet comprised of a flat band body with triangular finials and a opening at the back for wearing. The bracelet is adorned with a motif featuring small Mjolnir hammers and stamped lightning bolts, signifying the dedication of the piece to the thunder god Thor. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1921,1101.304. Size: 80mm x 75mm; Weight: 38g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously acquired at the art market in Vienna; formerly in an Austrian collection formed prior to 2000. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
