VIKING SILVER DISC WITH ENGRAVED ANIMALS
Ca. AD 900 - 1100.
A silver disc engraved with a symmetrical arrangement of interlaced animals and foliate scrolls within a grid of intersecting panels. Each pillow-shaped compartment encloses a stylised creature in fine linework with punched detail, framed by almond-shaped panels filled with scrollwork. Small perforations are evenly spaced around the perimeter and one at the centre.
