VIKING SILVER-GILT MEDALLION WITH GRIPPING BEAST Ca. AD 1000 - 1100. A circular silver medallion depicting a symmetrical composition of intertwined gripping beasts, their bodies forming tight scrolls and gripping their limbs and jaws across the field. Encircled by a beaded border and fitted with an integral ribbed suspension loop above. The reverse is flat and undecorated. For similar see: J. Graham Campell, Viking Art, 2013, p. 113, n. 133-134.
