VIKING SILVER MEDALLION WITH CENTRAL MOTIF Ca. AD 800 - 1100. A silver medallion of lozenge form with a suspension loop at the top. The obverse is decorated with a central raised boss encircled by twisted filigree elements arranged symmetrically into a knot-like pattern. Small raised pellets and short rectangular bars are interspersed throughout the field. A narrow rope-like border encloses the composition.
