VIKING SILVER STRAP END WITH GRIPPING BEAST AND RED CABOCHONS Ca. AD 800 - 950. A silver strap end of elongated form, tapering towards a stylised animal head terminal with a pointed snout and circular recessed eyes inlaid with red cabochons. The surface is decorated with densely interlaced knotwork and linear engraving, incorporating gripping beast motif. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1852,0329.380.
