VIRGILE. [Opera]. Venice, Giorgio Arrivabene, 1489. In-folio, half vellum with corners, smooth spine (19th century binding). Precious incunabulum edition of Virgil with commentaries by Servius, Donat, Cristoforo Landino and Domizio Calderini. The text is printed in Roman type, framed by the commentary. The first blank page (π1), the last introductory page (π8), 3 pages of text numbered 9, 231 and 238 (pages 232 and 237 having been repeated by mistake), and the appendix (pages 316-346) containing the continuation of the Aeneid by Maffeo Vegio are missing. Main body of book detached, dampstaining, stains, marginal tears, a few worm holes, first page soiled. Old annotations in brown ink in the margin of the text and handwritten sketch on the last leaf.
