Lot no. 118
Diorama window
A curious, animated scene, showing a number of religious figures (four Carthusian monks, two priests and a bishop in cassock) dressed in habits and standing in front of a chapel. On the other side of the mountain, a house appears to be occupied by three soldiers. High up in the landscape, a shepherd playing a flute, another trying to catch a bird and their dog are guarding a flock of sheep, scattered across the escarpments. The decor is made of crumpled paper, plant elements, crushed glass, pearls and a painted background. Characters and animals in coated paper and varnished plaster, with fine details. Buildings in cardboard and paper. Frame with gilded mouldings.
