Vladimir Makarenko is a non-conformist Ukrainian artist who became known for his unique ability to combine traditional motifs with modernist expression, folk elements with a socialist aesthetic. During the years of Soviet rule, Makarenko created works that used abstract forms and elements of Cubism, seeking to convey emotional expression and inner freedom.
