First edition decorated with a frontispiece engraved by Mellan, a portrait of the author engraved by Nanteuil after Philippe de Champaigne, and the printer's mark engraved by J. Picart on the title. In this first edition, the Works comprise two parts. The first comprises the "Letters"; the second contains the "Poems". Antique binding (late 19th century) in imitation of the period, with extensive marginal restoration and traces of wetness to the first 20 leaves and the last 25 leaves.
