Complete group of "Music Clowns" by Peter Strang "Clown with drum", "Clown with guitar", "Clown with saxophone", "Clown with harmonica" and "Clown with violin" standing on a square plinth with bevelled corners. Polychrome painting with enamel colours and polished gold. Designed by Peter Strang, circa 1987 - 1989, mostly signed monogr. "PS" with date; model no. 60462, 60463, 60464, 60465 and 60466, each limited edition "033/150". One figure rest.; year mark. Centreboard mark. H. 20 cm - 28 cm.
Strang transfers the traditional Meissen subject of ironically depicted orchestras into contemporary porcelain sculpture. In doing so, he satirises the "collective artistic development" by depicting his colleagues and himself as clowns.
