In response to the Marshal's request, "I sent the book you were kind enough to ask for [Le Siècle de Louis XIV], and I sent it, covered in waxed cloth, to Sr Korman, merchant and commission agent in Strasbourg", instructing him "to give this parcel to your address in the hands of the postmistress of Strasbourg", but he received no reply from Korman. "When he died, you should still have your parcel because there are two brothers Korman and company. I had received several bundles through their channel. If they are all dead, and if they have not had any confession tickets, their effects may have been sealed. As the book is not heretical I hope it will be returned to you. I do not know where you are at the moment, my lord, if you are making Metz impregnable, or if you are embellishing your land. Wherever you are I wish you as much health as you have glory"...
