Bouillon, Société typographique, 1778. 3 volumes in-8, red morocco basane, triple gilt fillet and fleurons at the corners, ornate spine, inner lace, gilt edges (pastiche binding). One of the most beautiful illustrated editions of Voltaire's novels, with a first printing of a portrait engraved by Cathelin after La Tour and 57 out-of-text figures, mainly by Monnet - whose illustration of Candide is, according to Ray, the best this masterpiece received at the time - and the rest by Marillier, Martini and Moreau.
