Lot no. 490
Vonnemann, Anna
Untitled. 2023. oil on canvas. 200 x 140 cm. Signed and dated on the verso. - Exuberant floral splendour painted in the manner of the old masters, which extends across the entire large-format painting in oil on canvas, rich in colour and shining.
Anna Vonnemann studied fine art with Franz Erhard Walther at the HfBK in Hamburg from 1976 to 1981. She has been a freelance artist since 1981 and has also worked as a classical music agent since 1989, organising the Stradivari Sextett. As a painter, she is constantly finding new forms of expression, as a current exhibition at the Richard Haizmann Museum in Niebüll shows. In her private life, she proved herself as an inventor to help her paralysed daughter. At first glance, Vonnemann's exuberant flowers in old-masterly technique are reminiscent of the Baroque, but are strictly conceptualised. This is indicated by the symmetries and repetitions that analyse the painterly style and demonstrate the ability of the human hand to create a machine-like image. The sensuality of the floral splendour stands in sharp contrast to this conceptual, analytical rigour.
