Journey to Lorraine of Her Majesty the Empress and His Imperial Highness preceded by the journey of Her Majesty the Empress to Amiens. Paris, Plon, 1867. Oblong folio (30.2 x 43.5 cm), publisher's aubergine percaline, gilt frame and angular figures of the Empress Eugénie, her arms gilt in the centre of the first plate, smooth mute spine. An interesting account of an imperial journey. Ribeyre's text is set in beautiful engraved frames, printed in blue or pink, with the figure of the Empress Eugénie. Edition decorated with 8 large hors-texte plates, including a double frontispiece portrait of the Empress and the Prince Imperial after Henry de Montaut, engraved with a burin by Adrien Nargeot, and a composition after Meissonnier engraved with an etching by Jacquemart, as well as 34 other drawings engraved in the text. Apart from the etchings, the full-page engravings are printed on mounted China paper. Copy no. 298. Binding rubbed and faded, especially around the edges of the boards and spine, one hinge slightly split, corners dull. Freckles, rare creases and marginal tears.
