The jewelry box is decorated all over with delicate mother of pearl and ivory inlays. The front is decorated with deer and riders between foliage. The sides and the lid feature inlaid depictions of birds and snails between flowering vines. The back is adorned with various European and exotic animals, including squirrels, elephants, dogs, lions, camels and a viola player. The interior is lined with red velvet. The box is in good condition with signs of age and wear. Some losses. There are alterations to the interior, the lock and the escutcheon are presumably later additions.
