Bronze, gilded. Ivory, carved. Signed; foundry inscription "AKT. GES: GLADENBECK BERLIN. D.". White-grey, veined marble base. Girl standing on a round plinth, leaning forward with a ball in her right hand. Rare, finely carved chryselephantine version of the extremely graceful Art Nouveau figure created in 1897, which is particularly known for its moulding in Meissen porcelain. Schott's Berlin sculptor colleague Reinhold Begas praised it as "the best figure created in the last century". Sculpture h. 26 cm; total h. 36 cm.
