WESTERN ASIATIC AXE HEAD WITH LION.
Ca. 1000 - 900 BC.
A bronze axe head featuring a tubular socket with thickened collars around its openings and two horizontal raised ribs in the midsection. The blade gently flares outward to a curved cutting edge. Along the back of the socket is a crouching lion with an elongated body and a slightly raised tail.
