WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE HORSE BIT WITH RIDER ON HORSE Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze horse bit composed of a central rod with spiral-shaped ends. Each end features an intricate openwork cheek piece depicting a horse and its rider. The horse, standing with its head slightly lowered, has a large loop at the top of its head and an integral base connected to its mouth by a twisted rod. The rider, viewed in profile but turned for a frontal view, sits atop the horse, which is adorned with a mane made of loops. An additional loop is present at the horse's back.
