Lot no. 205
Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881 Meiderich near Duisburg - 1919 Berlin) after "Girl with her leg propped up". Original title Bronze, dark brown patina. Artist's inscription "W. LEHMBRUCK; foundry inscription "H. GONOT FONDEUR PARIS" (both in capitals). Posthumous, contemporary cast (late 20th/early 21st century) after the sculpture created by Lehmbruck in Paris in 1910, of which only a few lifetime casts are known. With this nude figure, Lehmbruck took up the motif of the bathers, which had already fascinated artists in antiquity, and interpreted it in a modern way through a very self-contained formal language and composition. H. 59.5 cm. Cf. Dietrich Schubert: "Wilhelm Lehmbruck. Catalogue raisonné of sculptures 1898-1919", Worms 2001, p. 206 ff., no. 54 C. After Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881 - 1919). Dark brown patinated bronze. Inscribed "W. LEHMBRUCK"; foundry-inscription "H. GONOT FONDEUR PARIS". Posthumous, contemporary cast, late 20th/early 21st century.
