Wilhelm Lichtenheld (1817 Hamburg - 1891 Munich) Moonlit night with a castle by a river Late Romantic, effectively painted southern German landscape with a view from the river valley to the picturesque, imposing castle, at its feet an old stone bridge and a house with an illuminated window. An artistically outstanding painting by the Munich Academy-trained artist, whose oeuvre focussed on atmospheric moonlit landscapes.
