Counterparts. Late Biedermeier, finely painted, sensitive portraits of a pair of siblings sitting in summer landscapes. They depict the two first-born children of the Swiss banker Melchior Hermann Vogel (1826 Zurich - 1900), who worked in Milan, and his wife Marie (Mary) Françoise Perret (1828 Vevey - 1883 Interlaken): Franz Ludwig Eduard Vogel (1852 Zurich or Milan - 1903 Küsnacht) with butterfly net and his sister Leonie Wilhelmine Julia Horngacher-Vogel (1853 Zurich or Milan - 1924 Geneva) with a clown painting in her lap. The versatile portrait, genre, battle, war and horse painter Wilhelm Richter studied under Leopold Kupelwieser and Johann Nepomuk Ender at the Vienna Academy. In the 1870s Richter often spent time in Gödöllo at the imperial hunting lodge there, where he painted the imperial hunting parties in 1872 and 1875. Oil/painting card.
